Salbutamol is a common medicine for asthma and inhalers may be readily accessible to pets in the home.
We have recently seen an increase in dogs chewing and piercing these inhalers and this can cause adverse effects in pets with increased heart rate, panting and distress. There is also a risk of injury to the mouth and heart.
If your pet has chewed a salbutamol inhaler we advise taking your pet to your vet immediately.
