Peanut is a 1-year-old miniature lop rabbit who recently found himself chewing on the leaf of a dragon tree plant (Dracaena draco). His owner called Animal PoisonLine for advice shortly after.
Ingestion of Dracaena species by rabbits and rodents can cause gastrointestinal upset, with signs such as drooling, inappetence, diarrhoea and lethargy. Some animals may develop significant abdominal pain and/or gastrointestinal stasis and may require supportive care at the veterinary hospital.
Luckily Peanut remained completely well and his owner sent us this gorgeous photograph of him!😍
